Catherine’s Box Art Is A Bit Too Much For ‘Sensitive’ Gamers

Atlus plans to roll out the adventure RPG Catherine later this summer on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in North America, but it will hit the continent with a slight change from the original version. It appears that some gamers in America consider themselves as “sensitive gamers/shoppers,” and this is the cause of the change.

Some very provocative cover art for the game originally set the stage for the new title, involving quite the amount of Catherine cleavage. The box art that you see above is the new set that will be shipping out this summer to the said “sensitive gamers.” Not long after this new version of the box art hit the net, game developer Atlus explained the reason for the change.

According to Atlus, the original box art won’t be changing for most gamers. The company just plans to offer the slightly less risque option for select retailers in North America.  So calm down, because there’s no need to have a rage fit.

“The vast majority of copies available at launch will feature the cover we originally unveiled, essentially the Japanese cover of the game,” reads a comment from Atlus’ Nich Maragos. “A small percentage of copies, however, will feature a cover that is more considerate of certain retailers’ broader customer demographic.”

Easily put, America has a “sensitive demographic ” (sissies), which has caused the developer to make this an option. This doesn’t mean all the copies in North America will be like this, so don’t worry. Honestly though, if you’re too sensitive about a certain game’s box art, then maybe you shouldn’t be getting that game in the first place. Don’t you agree?
