For the many fans of the DotA-esque League of Legends, you know that Riot Games loves introducing new champions in a cycle that is serious clockwork. This week a bite-sized champion joins the game’s ranks. His name is Rumble, and he’s a master of all things mechanical. Piloting a mechanized death-machine, he’s not an entity to be taken lightly.
Riot Games Designer Phreak calls Rumble a “bully,” which means that he is designed to be tougher to kill than a normal damage dealer, though he boasts a bigger damage output than the usual initiator. He has a lot of area-of-effect skills that are perfect when you want to slow down enemies, or if you’re looking for some crowd control.
Rumble’s resource is a new type to the game – heat. Unlike the other resource types, heat works better with skill use, meaning that the more skills you use, the more of the resource you have. Keeping Rumble’s heat above 50% enhances all of his non-ultimate skills, which can do things like increase the damage dealt, the amount they slow down or speed up targets, and the amount of damage they protect against. Getting up to 100% heat prevents Rumble from using any of his skills, though it allows him to unleash a devastating melee attack booster which adds to the damage dealt by all melee attacks within range.
