A convention for a game where you chop down trees and break through rock may not sound interesting to some people, but to others, it’s a blissful wonderland. It’s always nice to meet other people who have the same passion as you, and compare and contrast things you’ve built over time. Minecraft has grown into such a phenomenon that there is currently talk of a MinecraftCon for 2011.
This convention would be held in Las Vegas, NV and looks like it would happen on 11/11/11. That being the date where this multi-million dollar game is proposed to finally emerge from its beta status. Markus “Notch” Persson would be there, having several Q&A sessions, costume contests, and all sorts of goodies.
There was actually a MinecraftCon in 2010 that had about 50 attendees, but this is looking like a real, planned event. There is currently a poll on Notch’s blog asking if people would be interested in paying $90 to get into said convention. If you’re interested, you’ll probably want to get on it to see this thing come into fruition.
