The new Xbox 360 DVDs have been designed to hold an extra gigabyte of data, and for owners of older consoles, this isn’t very good news. Recently a 2009 60GB Xbox 360 Pro user received an email from Microsoft warning him that his system wouldn’t be able to handle the upcoming retail discs. Only a few select few will be affected by this, but I guarantee you’re going to wish you were one of them.
Seeing as this problem was caused by Microsoft, and they don’t want to punish those who have bought from them in years past, they chose instead to reward them. Essentially what this means is if they can detect that you are going to have this issue via Xbox LIVE, they will send you a brand new Xbox 360S with 250GB hard drive at no cost. If this applies to you, then I am jealous of you as an individual.
This isn’t something you can tinker with and trick the system, so don’t bother. It seems to be a very unique issue that only they can keep track of. But hey, at least they’re heading off a serious problem before its ever an actual problem. According to the email, they’re also going to be throwing in codes for a years worth of Xbox Live.
