Mad Catz Launches ThunderHawk Studios, Now Creating Their Own Games

Mad Catz is a company best known for their gaming peripherals. You can’t go into a game store anywhere without seeing Mad Catz branded controllers, gaming wheels, memory cards, and other peripherals lining the store. The company is making well with what they’re doing, but in a recent press release, MadCatz says that they have their sights on video games themselves.

ThunderHawk Studios is the newest addition to the peripheral company, based in San Diego, California. The studio will set out to create a series of MMO flight simulation games for the public, expected to launch in 2012.

Darren Richardson, the President and CEO of Mad Catz stated that, “The addition of flight simulation games should leverage the market share leadership and global distribution enjoyed by our flight simulation hardware products. The formation of ThunderHawk Studios is an important milestone as we pursue our longer term goal of expanding our participation in developing, publishing and distributing games.”

Now it looks like Mad Catz will have their own titles stocking the shelves of local retailers soon enough. I am actually looking forward to seeing what the company provides for players out there. The Mad Catz brand has seen some love, and some hate over the years, which causes us to wonder. What do you think about this new announcement?
