Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Is More User-Defined

EA posted on the game’s official blog, an interview with Battlefield 3 Lead Designer Lars Gustavsson. In the interview Gustavsson spoke a lot about the game’s multiplayer, and how it’s differed from the title’s predecessors. Through the interview, he wants players to get the idea that they can have whatever multiplayer experience they choose, meaning they have it their own way.

“The mindset at Dice during the development of Battlefield 2 was pretty much: ‘Play the game our way, or play something else.’ Now we have made a conscious effort to reverse that mentality. The goal with Battlefield 3 is to offer a vast variety of gameplay experiences and to be inviting to everyone. We’re not telling you how to play the game. You choose.”

Gustavsson plans to change up the game by incorporating variety in the available game modes and types of environments gamers play in. These two elements were combined, adding real-world destruction and the new Battlelog hub which will all provide a new, unique experience for players. For more on the interview, you can head to the Battlefield 3 Official Blog. What do you think? Who out there enjoyed/hated the multiplayer in Battlefield 2?
