Halo, Call of Duty, Gear of War, Resident Evil, most big name game franchises have either a special edition version of the game, or If the game is on Xbox a themed special edition 360. Are these fancy flashy games worth the extra cash? That’s what im here to talk about today.
Lets start with the special edition games. One of the first to offer an extra with the game was Halo 3 which offered a full scale master chief helmet and DVD set full of extras. Not long after came COD Modern Warefare 2’s Prestige edition complete with night vision goggles and original concept art booklet. Both of these game editions cost one hundred dollars or more. Depending on you commitment to the game that hundred or so dollars may be worth it, it’s really up to you whether the extras are worth the extra green.
Now on to the Xbox 360 versions, generally they come with a copy of the game, an extra controller, awesome game themed color and emblems and sometimes a headset. They almost always tend to sell for around $399, but is that a good deal? Lets add it up and find out. You have the Console itself MSRP $299, then there is the extra controller $50 the game $60 and headset $20. All that adds up to around $430 so from the looks of my math you do indeed come out on top. My recommendation? If you are going to buy a new 360 save some money and wait until one releases (if it hasn’t already) themed after your favorite game, you may only save $10- $30 but hey your still saving.
