Details On The New Azura Map In Gears of War 3

The Horde Command Pack for Gears of War 3 is coming upon us, and there will be a handful of new maps for players to wreak havoc on. With these new maps will be new upgrades to existing features and new characters. One of the new multiplayer maps in the update will be Azura, and Epic Games’ Jim Brown detailed it out a bit.

To those who have played the series, you’ll notice that Azura is a nice step away from the dank and dark undertones that many of the maps have shown over the years. With its lush environment, Azura has been, for the most part, unscathed in this war. That all changes, however, when the last stand of humanity rocks the shores of the island, bringing the fight to its mainland.

Over on IGN, Brown offered up an interview that goes a bit deep into the map, and Azura itself. “Well, the new map is set in Azura, which was the nice, pretty resort-like area where those deemed worthy were skirted away by the government before the Locust hit. So, there’s an interesting undertone there,” says Brown. “It’s a fairly large map, and the reason why we included it in the Horde Command Pack is because in addition to being a great versus map, it’s a fantastic Horde map to play in, with a couple of really good routes and some nice bases to hole up in with your teammates. ” You can see a preview video of the map below, and we encourage you to do so. Start building your strategies now, while there isn’t a chainsaw in your chest.
