Gears of War 3 Multiplayer Stats Show Gnasher On Top

According to Epic Games, the shotguns in Gears of War 3 are running the top of the multiplayer stat boards. They are being used quite often, and account for 72% of quick match kills gained across the board. With this news, an announcement that the sawed-off shotgun will no longer result in “gib” kills at a farther away range than the Gnasher. For those who don’t know, “gib” kills are kills that result with total obliteration of a target, basically a one-shot explosion.

Senior Gameplay Programmer at Epic, Pete Knepley, stated in a video presentation that roughly “45 percent of the kills are caused by the Gnasher,” of course referring to quick matches. “Gnasher domination is still continuing, but it’s not as bad as Gears 2, where it was pretty much 10 to 1 against the Lancer.” I remember those days. Oh, the horror.

Basically what this means is that many players in quick matches are running the Gnasher shotgun as a primary means to score kills. That being said, if you’d like any chance of avoiding these odds, head over to ranked matches instead. Be sure to take some time to check out the video below that explains these numbers in better detail. Personally when I am running on Gears 3, I keep the Lancer as a primary. There’s something about its rapid fire rate that makes for easy picking off of enemies, and it is a great weapon to attack groups from afar. What about you?
