When it comes to Hollywood, lately they’re just not cutting the mustard. It seems like every movie being pushed out now is some “C” rated film that didn’t spend enough time on the production floor, featuring familiar faces that are starred just to bring in money. As a gamer, when I hear of a new video game-inspired film, I feel only a small spark inside my chest. What with the Resident Evil series flopping dramatically, I’ve little hope left. The video from Samsquanch films however, is a light in a darkened world.
The film, entitled “The Tide,” was inspired by Limbo, the platforming shadows indie title that was a massive hit on the PSN and Xbox Live Arcade. The film is still being worked on, and is a film project started by Matt and Adam Bucceri. This is one video you’ll just have to see to believe.
What you’ll see here is a short clip from Samsquanch, in which they introduce their project, and explain how they need the community’s help. Some test footage of the film can be seen, and they’ve hit the nail right on the head. By turning to the community, the company’s Kickstarter site is offering T-shirts, stickers, associate producer credit, a role in the film, and a custom oil painting to those who help donate to bring the film to the big screen. Check out the video, and the Kickstarter site for more information. This is something I want to see make it.
