Contrary To What GameStop Is Saying, The Last Guardian Is Not Being Canceled

A lot of rumors have been floating around with mention that The Last Guardian is set to be canceled. It looks like these rumors are surfacing due to reports that GameStop has removed the game from their upcoming titles list in their database. Some customers have even chimed in claiming that they’ve received phone calls that told them personally that the game wouldn’t be seeing the light.

Fumeto Ueda left the project some time ago, which first shed light on some feelings that the game wouldn’t see fruition. The game still doesn’t have a release date, but there is some good news concerning it. Sony has officially released a statement saying that the game is simply not canceled, and it’s still in development. Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida confirmed on his Twitter account that these rumors are false, and fans shouldn’t worry.

You can’t pre-order the game at GameStop, and their response to their actions is that since “the game did not have a specific release date, GameStop made the decision to remove the game from our system.” According to the retailer, the pre-orders shall be reinstated once a launch date is confirmed. Until then, just sit tight. There’s nothing to worry about.
