Battleship – The Game Based On The Movie Based On The Game
See if you can wrap your heads around this one! There is going to be a Battleship video game, which is based on the movie, which is based on the board game. The game will be released on the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360, as Activision and Hasbro announced today.
If you thought the concept was confusing, wait until you hear about the gameplay. Apparently, it will switch back and forth from a Battle Command map and a first person shooter. Though not much more is known than that, I imagine the Battle Command map will feel a lot like, well, Battleship. Why else would you play a game called “Battleship” if not to play Battleship? The first person shooter part of the game will be focused on a “war on the shore”. Personally, I don’t really see how these two types of elements can blend in, but Activision claims it’s up for the challenge.
The game is being developed by Double Helix and is set to hit stores in North America in May and in Europe in April. Wii, DS, and 3DS versions will be released at a later date. Who knows? It might be better than any other Hollywood tie-in movie.
