Blizzard Only Planning One Official Diablo III Launch Event

Next month if you’re planning on making it out to a launch party or event for the release of Diablo III, you’d either need to be right in the company’s back yard, or prepare for one major trip. Blizzard has announced that they will be holding only one launch event for the game, and it will take place in the GameStop residing in the Irvine Spectrum. This, so far, is the only planned U.S. event to take place.

The event that will rollout is a scheduled midnight release of which many Blizzard employees plan to attend, including members of the development team and executives. It will kick off at 8 P.M. PST on May 14th, the day before the release. At the event you can take part in giveaways, contest, and see some extra footage from the game that hasn’t been seen before.

Now we can’t say for sure that local stores won’t be holding their own, private events. Many retail locations plan to still be open at midnight when the game goes on sale, and some will hold down parties of their own. If that’s not enough, why not throw your own party? Show Blizzard that you care enough about the game to celebrate it on your own terms!
