Advice On How Not To Get Scammed In Diablo III From A Former Scammer

I remember my first days on Diablo II. In retrospect, they were the most glorious days of that game. Everything was fresh and new, I was discovering new places, items and abilities. But that’s not what made the game so much better than it was in the later years. No, it was the absence of scammers and bots.

Try logging into a game today and you’ll be berrated with messages with offers to sell you high level items. The gold farmers of WoW pale in comparison to these bots. Even if you didn’t actually get scammed out of anything, the on-screen messages were still enough to drive one mad.

Over at Kotaku, a former scammer has put together a few guidelines on how to stay safe while playing the latest incarnation of the game. Granted, we can imagine that Blizzard has learned a lot over the years, and will hopefully prevent a lot of these things from happening. Still, it wouldn’t hurt to follow the advice of a reformed scammer.
