Arkane Studios, with the help of Bethesda, will be bringing a supernatural steampunk FPS to the hands of hungry gamers very soon. The release date for the game was just announced, and players can start stealthily fighting to clear Corvo’s name starting this October. Specific dates are: the US on October 9th, Australia on October 11th, and Europe rounds out at October 12th.
With Dishonored players are taken to the industrial city of Dunwall. Steampunk-inspired technology and paranormal energies lie in the darkness. Players take the role of Corvo, the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress who has just been murdered. You become an infamous assassin through being framed for the crime, and you’ll be known by the mysterious and disturbing mask that’s become your calling card.
In the game you can eliminate enemies with a flexible combat system as it’s described by Arkane, by using supernatural abilities, weapons, and gadgets at your disposal. You can stay in the shadows to stalk your prey or come out with sword gleaming to take anyone on in a battle. The gameplay is really up to you. Bethesda President Vlatko Andonov said about the game, “We are pleased that Dishonored has captured people’s attention. We are looking forward to sharing lots more information about the game leading up to its launch in October and having a hands-on build of Dishonored in our booth at E3!”
I’m looking forward to the release of Dishonored. Everything I’ve seen about the game so far just keeps getting better, and I think it’s about time that players get a great steampunk game. With the way that the steampunk trend is going, I am actually surprised it hasn’t happened sooner. Beyond that, though, Dishonored is throwing in some really cool paranormal powers along with a great-looking storyline to tie everything together. Not to mention that Corvo’s mask is freakishly awesome.
