Look For Mounted Combat In Skyrim’s Next Patch!

After adding new kill-cams and Kinect support in previous patches, Bethesda is looking to do something a little different for their next patch. They’re adding the ability for people to fight while mounted on a horse. Words can’t describe how awesome that is, because let’s face it, if there was one thing that bugged me about Skyrim it was the fact that I couldn’t run through a town guard while I was fleeing the city on my horse.

The new combat feature will appear in the next patch, 1.6. At this time, it has not been determined exactly when the patch will be released. However, judging from the fact that they have the release notes available, my guess is that the next patch will be out sometime soon.

If you’re a PC player and you want to try out the mounted combat for yourself, you’re in luck! Bethesda has it set that if you opt into the Steam Beta Update feature, you’ll be able to try the mounted combat out right now. Make sure, however, that you don’t overwrite all of your existing saves. The old saves will still work with the current 1.5 patch if you decide to opt out of the beta program, but the 1.6 beta saves will not work. I think I might have to give this mounted combat a bit a test…
