Minecraft is one of those games that has a heartwarming tale behind it. The game’s creator, Notch has risen from being unemployed and working on a dream to running a very successful company with a very profitable game. Recently, Mojang released Minecraft on the Xbox 360, which was not an easy feat. Some might have questioned whether it would have been profitable to make the port. It’s safe to say now that it was a good bet.
According to Notch, the game sold more than 400,000 copies in the first 24 hours. But how long will it take to actually turn a profit? As it turns out, it was profitable within the very first hour. That’s right, Mojang made enough in just 60 minutes to offset the labor needed to translate the game from the PC to the Xbox 360.
I guess I can’t say that I’m surprised here. This coming from a guy that was able to turn a profit on a game while it was still in beta. Let’s just hope that he can keep the magic going for his future titles.
