The Second Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Gets Delayed

The next Guild Wars 2 beta weekend, which would be the second so far, is being pushed back AreaNet says. The developer needs to set out “a lot of additional hardware in our datacenters,” which is the reason for the delay. The initial announcement came by way of the AreaNet Facebook page.

Community Manager Martin Kernstein posted on the page:

“Our Beta Weekend Event 1 was super successful. We exceeded our expectations. As some of you might have experienced firsthand, this lead to some technical issues. To make sure we are not running into the same situation for BWE2, we recently had a stress test, and we are currently deploying a lot of additional hardware in our data centers.

We will be able to tell you exactly when BWE2 will take place as soon as all the hardware has been deployed. We are not withholding a date intentionally, we want to make sure that BWE2 will be a really great experience for all of you.”

Guild Wars 2 already has tons of dedicated fans worldwide, and hundreds of thousands of players have already pre-purchased the game. One of the benefits for doing so is the ability to jump into the beta weekends that the developer rolls out. There’s no release date specifically set out for the game yet, well aside from 2012. The sooner the beta weekends get back online, the sooner we can actually grab the game.
