EA Offers Free Games To Celebrate Origin’s First Anniversary

People love to hate on EA’s Origin service. Mostly because it sucks. Actually, that’s probably the biggest reason. Seriously, is there anyone out there that looks forward to firing up the Origin client? The only ones I can think of are the people who EA has sent out bribes to, in the form of free games.

That’s right, if you actually subscribe to the Origin newsletter, you might just find a special email in your inbox. The email announces the 1-year anniversary since Origin was launched. And the only way to get people excited about that is to give people free stuff. Recipients will get to choose from Dragon Age: Origins, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, or Spore. These aren’t exactly fresh, new games, but they are free. And DA:O is one excellent game, if you haven’t picked it up.

If you’ve already checked your inbox and not found anything, there are a few things to do. First, check your spam folder. It’s coming from EA, so there’s a good chance it gets tossed in there with the other junk. If it’s not there, you might check to see if you’re even signed up for the newsletter. You can check the settings and change them here. Finally, you can simply wait. EA has stated that the emails are going out in waves, so yours might not have been sent out yet. The biggest question is whether or not signing up for the newsletter now will do any good. I don’t have an answer for that, but I checked the box earlier this morning, so we’ll be waiting together to find out.
