I’ve seen fan frenzies before, but none of them have ever been as lively as the one going on right now for PlanetSide 2. Fans of the series have been brooding over Twitter updates, securely watching emails, and staying locked in on forums. Well your wandering eyes can take a breather for a moment because there’s good news incoming. Sony Online Entertainment President John Smedley announced via Twitter that the PlanetSide 2 beta could start as early as Monday, July 30th.
The announcement also informed us that “every single PS1 player who has ever subscribed to the game will have their Station Account activated at some point during the beta.” Players from all over the globe have been waiting for this beta, and it looks like the time has finally come. These beta invites will be rolling out in stages, with original subscribers first, then moving on to special access and those who have codes.
PlanetSide 2 is one of, if not the biggest shooter(s) out there. With a game that will support hundreds to thousands of players on one giant map, it’s not an FPS to be taken lightly. In it you’ll encounter large-scale battles with furious assaults. Choosing one of three factions, you’ll need to think of some strategy and play wisely to gain control of bases. With vehicular combat, specific loadouts, and tons of other players to worry about, PlanetSide 2 will definitely be intense.
This beta is expected to set out this coming Monday or Tuesday, and if you haven’t signed up yet there’s still time to do so. I know I’ve said this before, but PlanetSide 2 is definitely not something you want to let pass you by.
