Riot Reveals New Mermaid Champion: Nami

What are League players always curious about? New Champs. There have been a ton of bruisers this year, but not much in the way of support. Riot promised at least two support characters a year, and thus far we’ve only seen Lulu. Now it’s time for a change of pace.

The latest sneak peak shows us Nami, who is in fact, a little mermaid princess. The above picture is only a concept, but it may end up being closely themed to her final form. Here are some of the reasons that the lead concept designer Morello listed as why you should care about this new champ:

• She brings a combination of defensive utility (including a way to heal in combat situations!) and offensive “set-up”
• She’s a regal mermaid – an archetype I think we can agree is a needed addition to the League lineup
• Her offensive setup features a skillshot-style paradigm, something supports have only really had with Lulu; we wanted to expand a bit
