Don’t Expect Any Star Wars Games Till 2014

If you’re hoping to get a new Star Wars game this fiscal year (April 2013-March 2014), you better think again. At an investors call yesterday EA made the announcement that for the next year they were expecting to release 11 major titles. No Star Wars game was on that list.

The list of new games EA is expecting to release in the next year isn’t too surprising. You’ve got your myriad of sports games, of course, but you also have the new Battlefield and Need for Speed games as well. In fact, the only game on that list that’s not a sequel happens to be Fuse.

Of course, it’s not surprising in the least that we won’t be seeing any Star Wars games this year. After all, the deal was announced just yesterday, and I’ve got the feeling that EA is going to want to do something really big in order to impress Disney and Star Wars fans everywhere. That’s going to take a lot of time, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see the first Star Wars game until mid-way through next year at the very earliest.
