Wolfenstein: The New Order Has Been Announced, And It Looks Friggin’ Sweet

Known as the “grandfather of 3D shooters”, Wolfenstein 3D is perhaps one of most influential games to come out in the early 90’s. It was a fast-paced, action-filled shooter that despite the fact it’s over 20 years old, people still think of it as something to behold. After all, it let you gun down Nazis, and even got to kill Mecha-Hitler! Take that, National Socialism!

Unfortunately, it looks like the Nazis were able to somehow rewrite history, and it’s now the 60’s, and the Nazis have conquered the world.Wolfenstein: The New Order has you take the role of William “B.J.” Blazkowicz, whom you may remember as the hero from the original Wolfenstein 3D. You can check out the trailer right here.

Wolfenstein: The New Order will be out late in the year, just in time for the holiday season. It’s being developed by Bethesda, so you know it stands a good shot at being a pretty good game. It’ll be available for all the major platforms, including the Xbox 360, PS3, the PC, and other “next generation consoles”. No word, however, on a Wii U release, so I wouldn’t count on it.
