New King’s Quest Game Coming Next Year

In the last thirty years, PC gaming has evolved greatly. Back then, graphics were limited to only a few colors, and you were lucky if you had anything more than a static background to look at. Hell, some games didn’t even have graphics, you just read text and entered commands. These days if you play an RPG, you’ll be able to gaze at three-dimensional mountains, and watch as you walk your character to the top of one. So why am I waxing nostalgic about games as old as I am? Because one of the most famous names in 80’s RPG’s is coming back. That’s right, King’s Quest is back.

When Activision bought Vivendi Games back in 2008, everyone knew it was only a matter of time before they closed down one of the greatest studios in PC gaming. Well, last week Activision Blizzard announced that Sierra Entertainment was officially open for business again, which set the gaming community abuzz. Yesterday, they created an even bigger stir when they announced that a new King’s Quest was in the works.

Unfortunately, Activision wasn’t eager to give out any real details about the upcoming title. They did say that the game was being “fully reimagined”, and would be released sometime in 2015. As for what else Sierra will be up to, their goal is to find and work with gifted up-and-coming indie developers working on their own amazing projects, or passionate about working on great Sierra IP, and leverage our expertise to aid them in bring[ing] these fun and exciting experiences to gamers with the level of visibility and awareness they deserve.”
