Dark Souls Collector’s Edition Having Difficulty Staying Alive At Retailers

A lot of players were upset by FromSoftware’s announcement that they would be changing the contents of the Dark Souls Collector’s Edition, but it looks like their diminished feelings are about to crawl even deeper. It’s now looking like players may not be getting any Collector’s Edition at all. According to Co-optimus, online retailer Newegg failed to receive any of the special editions at all, and Best Buy doesn’t even have enough to supply their registered pre-orders.

In an effort to relieve this issue, both retailers are offering up gift cards to players who come face to face with the shortage situation. Newegg will be issuing a $20 gift card to everyone who pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition of Dark Souls, and Best Buy will be issuing cards in the same amount to those who’s copy doesn’t make it into their hands.

This is distraught news, especially since the Collector’s Edition came with some pretty sweet swag, as we mentioned not too long ago. The art book is something that just can’t be replaced, and for the hardcore fans out there this just comes off as a disappointment. If you’ve pre-ordered the Dark souls Collector’s Edition from Best Buy or Newegg, I would advise you to check your email. As more arises about the retail issue, we’ll be here to update.
