This year’s Ludum Dare was a great success, and it brought us tons of games that were great. Even Notch himself chimed into the event and created a new game in 48 hours. This game was Minicraft, an even more tiny version of the Minecraft game we all know and love. Though the game was a success of its own, that hasn’t stopped him from creating.
Notch is no longer the lead developer on Minecraft since the game went official. He’s been devoting his time to new Mojang titles such as Scrolls, though it seems he still holds a special place in his heart for his first title, and its spinoff. On his Twitter account he announced some news that had us a bit surprised – the sequel to Minicraft is already on its way.
He says it needs a better name than just Minicraft 2, and I imagine he’ll take to the community for help. I’d like to assume the game will be ready to go in a couple of days like the first, but since this is “for no good reason,” he may just be taking his time to have fun with it. Either way, we know it’ll be another one of the greats.
