Yesterday I posted some news concerning the new Gears of War game that’s coming our way from People Can Fly. Game Informer posted an image of their next month’s issue cover, showing what appeared to be Marcus Fenix being carted down a hallways in handcuffs by two COG soldiers. Well, that’s what I assumed at least. As of this morning I’ve found out I’m wrong exactly, and things have taken a turn.
Game Informer re-posted their image of the cover, this time lifting the darkened shadow looming over the prisoner’s visage. The character isn’t Marcus at all, and has turned out to be Agustus Cole instead. Another image has shown up depicting Damon Baird in shackles as well, being carted down the same hallway. We’ve also learned that the new game will be called “Gears of War: Judgment,” and it’s been confirmed as a prequel.
The reveal may have proven my initial assumptions wrong, but I like what I’ve seen. It looks like we’ll be getting a different story all together, or see the initial one from a different point of view. I’m rather excited to see Cole as he’s making the transition from Thrashball star to COG soldier. And with Baird in-tow, there’s no telling what will happen. Game Informer is planning to reveal more information about the game, and it’s multiplayer, soon.
