Resident Evil 6 Comes To PC March 22nd, Free Update For Consoles January 22nd

In addition to releasing a brand-new fan-made Mega Man game and announcing the re-release of the first six Mega Man titles on the 3DS, Capcom has a few other announcements. These don’t have anything to do with the 25th anniversary of the Blue Bomber. Rather, it’s the release date and system requirements for Resident Evil 6 for the PC, and a few other tidbits for the console versions of the game.

The game will be dropping on March 22nd, 2013. Just as with the PC version of DmC, it will only be available as a digital download here in North America, while those in Europe will have their choice of buying it in a brick-and-mortar store, or downloading it online. As for the specs you’ll need, they are as follows:

Minimum specs

  • OS: Windows Vista®/XP, Windows 7, Windows 8
  • Processor: Intel® CoreTM2 Duo 2.4 Ghz or better, AMD AthlonTM X2 2.8 Ghz or better
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Hard Disk Space: 16 GB free hard drive space
  • Video Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800GTS or better
  • DirectX®: 9.0c or greater
  • Sound: Standard audio device

Recommended specs

  • OS: Windows Vista®/XP, Windows 7, Windows 8
  • Processor: Intel® CoreTM 2 Quad 2.7 Ghz or better, AMD PhenomTM II X4 3 Ghz or better
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Hard Disk Space: 16 GB free hard drive space
  • Video Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560 or better
  • DirectX®: 9.0c or greater
  • Sound: Standard audio device

Xbox 360 owners will be happy to know that the the game will be released as a “Games on Demand” title later in the holiday season. Also, the first free update for Resident Evil 6 has gone live today on both Xbox 360 and PS3. A second free update has been announced for January 22nd and will include the following enhancements:

Agent Hunt Mode

  • Available without having to complete a campaign
  • Selectable criteria for joining a session
    • Stage selection
    • Region selection
    • Players can determine whether to join a session based on campaign player’s settings such as infinite ammo or friendly fire setting

Stage selection

  • Individual stages within chapters can be accessed at any time once completed

General

  • QTE assist
    • QTE assist is currently part of the Amateur difficulty level, and automatically completes QTEs for the player. With this update, players can optionally activate QTE assist on any difficulty level.
  • Adjustments
    • Some sections of the game have had their difficulty adjusted to provide an improved experience
